The Christening…

12.04.08 | Comment?

So here it is - the new site. There’s an idea behind it and, because of all the traffic I get, I’ll use the next line or so to explain it. It’s simple. This site will make it easier to communicate my images and the ideas behind them without all the background noise. Simplicity.

But before I break into a few lines from Lynard Skynard, I’ll move on to christening this new site. I just got some new studio space downtown with a handful of other Tulsa photographers and designers. Now…I haven’t shot much studio work before, so I’m riding the learning curve. I’ll be posting personal experiments/projects right along side the stuff that pays the bills and every now and again, shots of my dog or cat or motorcycle or something. Just for the fun of it. I’ll try not to make it boring and above all, I’ll try to stay off my soapbox.

I’ve been a little busy as of late - busier than I’m used to, anyway. Between my day job at the zoo, concert posters for Flytrap Music Hall as well as house photographer and the here-and-there portraits I’ve scrounged up…my dog is getting cabin fever without me being around as much.
So, without further delay, I christen the new site with a shot of Sara from the studio (since I dont have galleries yet). The idea we were going for was a classic pinup look. Winking at a statement from earlier in the post - simple. Simple background, simple lighting, but classic. I’m very pleased with how they turned out. The only thing I would’ve done different would be to drop the fill light a bit more. So, enjoy…Galleries will be up soon.

Oh yeah, one more thing - there’s a little music player at the bottom of the page and i recommend you listen to it. Just bring my page up and leave it open while you’re at work or whatever. There’s a good mix of heavy (some Tool and Ministry), outlaw country (Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson) and, without a better word to describe it, pretty (Absinthe Blind and The Avett Brothers). So enjoy that as well…
